Reaping a bit of the rewards of Mr. Bailey's Garden Week...
The second graders (and their teacher) are really excited that Mr. Bailey and his students have asked us to help them create a garden at our new school site! The older students took the week before break to become garden experts. During this week, we joined them for some pretty cool learning. Here are photos of our "Soil in a Box" lesson (taught by Seattle Tilth). We also learned a delicious way to eat those school grown vegetables. On Friday, Eva's Mom & Lucca Mom & Grandmother taught us how to make Spring Rolls. To check out the wonderful photos Alexander's Dad took of our Spring Roll lesson with Mr. Bailey's class, go to http//chefspot.com/gormet/rolls/.

Learning from our talented parents!
We are so lucky to have so many talented and generous family members in our classroom who are willing to come in and teach new and creative things. Last week, Jackson's mom, Stephanie, came in to teach us about photography and how to tell stories with the awesome camera she donated to our classroom. We have also been learning to create artwork with felt and wool from Eva E's mom, Anne. The kids have really enjoyed both of these activites and look forward to using these new skills more in the future weeks.
